How can we retrieve a solute accidently adsorbed on silica while doing the column chromatography?

I tried to prepare one inorganic complex, but didnt get the product precipated. uming the expected product to be in the solution, along with the unreacted reactants, I decided to separate them by column chromatography. But contrary to my expectation, when i added the reaction mixture dissolved in the eluting solvent to the column, it immediately got adsorbed on the silica, without coming out eluted. So now I have a dry portion of the column with my compound, a light green powder, actually a solid mixture of silica and my desired compound. Could you please help me to retrieve my compound from silica ?

If you made "antelope" into "grazers" instead, you could include the zebras and giraffe in there. I'd put buffalo into mega-herbivores. This girl and I have been seeing each other for about a month now and we told each other that we were going to take it slow. She had bad relationship where her boyfriend cheated on her and she felt miserable and I was out of a relationship where it was constant bickering. I asked her one day cause I was feeling like maybe im getting a little to attached like where do you see this going and what do want from me. She said that its something that she wanted to be easy and fun. I can do that but theirs going to be a point in time where I feel like someone, most likely me is going to get hurt. She is always saying things that make me want to end it like “ I get bored after a certain period” or “ I’m leaving soon” and I’m like well than to hell with this. Being 18 is tough - you are sort of in between a teenager and a grownup! I think you may be coming across to your friends as being "needy" and since they are probably in the same boat as you it is hard for them to support you when they, too, need support. My suggestion(s) would be: Continue keeping in touch with them, but only write or call them once every few weeks as they need some space; join some of your school clubs or study groups; do some volunteer work in your spare time; join an exercise group; offer to help your mom or dad with some household tasks or yard work; join one of your church groups. I don't much care for the expression, but "Get A Life." You only have yourself to take care of right now and while it might be a little lonely since you are no longer in high school, look at the bright side. You have a whole wonderful life ahead of you and lots of time to figure out what your future vocation will be. You might also consider a few visits with a psychologist who will help you regain your confidence and help you understand all the changes taking place in your life right now. Usually for my workout I just do as many repetitions as I can until I can do no more. Then I switch to another muscle group, do the same thing to that muscle group, and return to the other muscle groups I worked out first after they have had some rest and repeat the rotation. I repeat this process till my muscles are burnt out and I can can no longer do any more repetitions. Would it be better to have a set amount of repetitions and number of sets, rather than just simply working out your muscles till you can no more? Thank you in advance for any help.

Honour killings happen in certain cultures. In these cultures, women are not seen to be equal as men. The slightest misconduct on her part will bring shame upon her family and her male relatives must decide what to do with her. It's like these women are men's property... I think honour killings are disgusting. In the city I live in, a woman's brother killed her and her fiance because they were living together before marriage. The brother is in jail now (I think) and their whole family is devastated by the murder because most of them don't agree with honour killings. CALLING ALL WRITERS?!?

You have too many characters to develop in depth in a novel. You should select one from whose point of view you wish to tell your story. The others then would become ancillary characters, her friends (uming that your protagonist becomes Lindsay). Since they all seem to be teenagers, high school age, you can have them either be friends, competitors, interacting as you like. Briefly, you would describe the secondary characters, and through their activities reveal their histories and characteristics, work those into the story as they are required. From your descriptions, I think that the obvious plot of your prospective novel would involve some sort of high school story. One or more of the boys would provide romantic entanglements for your main character, predictably. But, your major problem, as I see it, is to create an original and unique story for your characters; they are potentially intriguing as you've portrayed them; to interweave them into a cohesive and provocative plot will require your inventiveness and active imagination! Why Are Blacks Judged More Harshly for their Accents than Other Ethnic Groups?

Dogs lower front paw is swollen?

A week ago my dog fell down the stairs(3-4 of them). He yelped and began limping on his front right paw. The area located between his toes and his duclaw(forefoot they call it) is swollen. I took him to the vet the next day, I was on vacation so it was not my regular vet. They took xrays and said they didnt see any significant break. They also told me they were not sure what was causing the swelling, it could be a sprain, ligament tear or tendon...no I was not pleased with this vet. They prescribed meloxin which the vet said was a pain reliever...I asked if he needed to be on an anti inflammatory and she said that pill was both. She also put him in a ridiculous splint, that I had to take off him because he was slipping and sliding all over the place with it on. The splint went from his toe all the way up to his armpit...it was causing him pain. I returned this evening from vacation and have an appointment with my vet tomorrow afternoon. I was wondering if anyone else has gone through something similiar so I can be prepared when I see the vet tomorrow. My dog can put very little weight on his front paw, it has been swollen for a week and seems to handle the pain well.

Book recommendations?

I myself am 16 and have read a lot of good books recently. Personally i recommend "Let the Right One In", its a good story, very graphic. Also "The Stand" by Stephen King, its my all time favourite. Has anyone every used the diet pill "Eroved", or heard anything about it? I've only heard good things so far.

Besides the price, and number of pills you have to take per day, i've heard nothing but good news about these pills. They contain "nuphedra"; dunno if that is okay, I know it's the new ephedra alternative though. They list in detail all ingredients, and their amounts. And i've read two personal reviews on different sites of ppl who had great results after only a month (15+ pds. lost). Also, I have yet to find any bad/scam reviews. Garbage disposal black rubber "throat" is causing a slow-drain; why?

The black rubber "throat" in the garbage disposal sink drain is causing a slow-drain. Simply inserting a tool to open part of the rubber dramatically increases drain speed to normal. No other components are affecting drainage; just the rubber "throat". This is a new development; it used to drain fine. We have cleaned the black rubber part and have used Draino. The unit is 12 months old.

My husband and I feel a presence in our apartment. Help please?

We moved into our apartment about 5 months ago. For the first month, nothing really happened, but then I started to feel a type of presence. I can't explain it any better than to say it felt as if someone was in the room with me, but when I would turn, there was no one visibly there. This was also around the time I got pregnant. I would especially feel the presence in our bathroom. My fiance blew it off as my pregnancy hormones, but I think it's something more. Not long after I started feeling this, my 2 year old son started talking to thin air. He would stare at one place, chatting away, often waving and saying "hi". If I asked him who he was talking to, he would just point. A few random things would happen on occasion. One night, our computer was in sleep mode on the desk in our room, and all the sudden loud noise came from the speakers. It was loud enough to wake our son, and both of us. My husband ran over and shut it off. Sometimes, our pictures will be hanging crookedly, even if they were fine before. And throughout all this I have had the distinct feeling that something is there. But none of this was enough to convince my husand. Last night, however, both of us were convinced that there is something here. We were laying in bed. I had woken up for some reason and I felt that presence like someone was standing close to our bed. I woke my husband up, and he said he didn't really feel anything and fell back asleep. I tried to as well, but our son woke up and got into our bed. He quickly went back to sleep and I layed awake. All of the sudden I felt as if I were paralyzed. I couldn't move, I couldn't speak, I'm not even sure if I was breathing. But my eyes were wide open and I could see this thing at the end of our bed. I say thing because I'm not sure what to call it. it was like a shadowy thing, with no corporeal body. It didn't extend all the way to the floor either. I would say it was an orb, but there was no light within it. It was moving back and forth between the end of our bed and our closet door. All this time I couldn't move, and I couldn't speak. I was very terrified however, because it didn't feel like a good presence. It seemed to come very close to me and then rapidly disappeared. At that exact moment, I came out of my paralysis and I screamed. My husband had been awake as well, and immediately grabbed me. He said that he tried to move me and speak to me but I was like frozen where I was laying. He asked me if I had felt it too, and I recounted the experience. About that time our speakers to our computer (which was again in sleep mode) started to blare music, which was weird because we had no music programs on or opened before we went to bed. My husband turned it off and neither of us could sleep the rest of the night. I have never really been into ghosts, and have in fact been scared of them. Is there anything we can do? I am a devout Catholic and have tried praying throughout the house, and reading various scriptures. Nothing has seemed to help. I don't really want to call a priest for a full scale exorcism, if that is not necessary. Any suggestions???

the basement at my moms house flooded recently, there was a problem with the septic system..they completely fixed the problem and got the basement sanitized but the drywall had to be torn out and carpets as well. both of my iguanas are outside now and they have a huge cage but they are rubbing their noses on the wire and they have already worn their noses down about 2 centimeters, whenever i go out there their noses are full of blood from rubbing on the metal wire their cage is made of. how do you make them quit rubbing their noses. or can we put something on the wire where they can't hurt themselves, but can still climb?

my best freind and comapion past away last NOV. he a was 3 foot tall 150lbs. rotti, best dog i ever owned...i recued him 8 years ago, hewas left out in the cold tied to a plow truck with tow chain around his neck, he was more loyal and devoted to me then any human could ever dream of being. I had the Vet come to my home to put him down, it was SO hard, i was drunk for a week straight. I missed him so much, all I did was cry, that same week i went to the shelter and adopted a rotti/hound mix, i love him dearly however, we don't share the same bond that TITAN and I did, I think of him every day,and think about how sad and lonley I am without him. my new dog (rex) reminds me ALOT of him. ( his demenor) we are slowly bonding, but can I ever love him the same way I loved TITAN?

What to feel?

here's what happened, lately things have been stressful, on Halloween I changed my hours to working at nights from 8:30-7am 4/10's so that I could save on daycare. By January I was like totally worn out, barely sleeping & grouchy because never really feel like I am getting any type of sleep, anyway so I talked with my sup & was told couldn't change back to days until March, so with that said & only two weeks til things go back to normal....out of of the blue last Friday my b/f of 2y says he needs space & then by Sunday night we were broken up with no real reason, but he states that wants to still be friends and that he's here for me to help out if I need it, like around the house or with my car. Anyway, this left me much much in confusion, so yesterday, we were talking and I asked him to give me a reason, you know closure, he tells me that he's going thru some stuff wants to finish college, find a wife & have his own kids, raise a Persian family,,,,,he's from Iran, been here six years

I have kind of bad acne, not horrible, and I have switched birth control to Necon 777 and for the past month..

I started using birth control about 2 months ago. At first, my acne got REALLY REALLY bad. But i liked the birth control i was using (Tri-Sprintec) because it regulated my cycle and I no longer had any cramps. So, instead of switching my birth control, I started using Proactiv acne medication. It has really helped. Maybe you should try changing your skin care regimen. If that doesn't work, you may have to find a different brand of birth control.

I have a 29 day cycle. It's like clockwork with me. I always start my period (medium/heavy flow) on what would be CD30. In addition, I usuall start spotting around CD27. I am currently on CD33 and no period, no spotting. I am having cramps like I'm about to start and my are sore. I have taken 3 HPT and they are all BFN! Could I still be pregnant?? I always have mid-cycle cramping and it started as usual. Everything was basically the same this cycle except I never really quit cramping once the midcycle cramping started. Also, my normally get very tender a week before I'm due; ths month they just started getting tender on CD29. Any advice would be great!!!

This girl and I have been best friends for a while, but we have recently expressed how we wanted to be together. It was a time we used to talk every day on the phone and used to see each other. We would even go to sleep on the phone together. I have always been there for her when she talked about how much she loved her ex and how much he had hurt her(even though I didn't want to hear it), I have been there for her when she cried over stuff, and I even stopped messing with other girls because I really thought I was going to be with her. I love her as a friend right now, but she is the type of what I want in a girlfriend. We made out a few times and we told each other how we felt and we loved each other. All of a sudden her ex boyfriend comes back and they went back out. Not only that, but it be days she don't even text me or call, and when she do call it we only talk on the phone for 10-20 minutes. She be talking to me rudely and cussing me out and really have been changing. I already accepted that we are not going to be together but I still have feelings for her, and it is hard to be friends with her knowing that she got back with somebody who did her wrong and that I could have treated her way better than how her boyfriend treated her. Pick one of those jobs that will keep you steady financially till your 30, then you should decide to stay with it or pick something greater. Ok My 1990 Mustang gt just shut off while i was driving i tryed to crank it and it wouldnt crank.?

so i got my friend to tow it home. i left it about 5 or 6 hours sittin and i came home it cranked right up and killed about another 2 minutes or less later. the fuel pump still primes when i halfway turn the key but it just will not start i have a in tank fuel pump and also about 1 or 2 feet after the fuel lines run there is another round cylinder looking thing. what is that round cylinder thing? is it my fuel filter? it looks old and want to no what it is and why my car wont start idk if this year was made with an intank fuel pump or if it was an out of tank pump. there is alot of performance stuff added on to it also including the fuel lines that i see running to the pistons, they are all aluminum or steel and have a pressure gauge under the hood which sits at aqround 40 psi so i no it cant be stock. why wont my car start and what is that old cylinder thing i see out of the tank but by it?

In today's combat, is the infantry soldier obsolete? Specifically, is world-war II style combat of clearing houses and towns while engaging mes of deadly hostiles gone? With advanced helicopters and air strikes, along with tanks, is modern combat moving towards a different style? Or is it not technology, and it's instead the fact that powers like the US and UK have no real challenge on the battlefield? It's all good with me as long as our guys are safe and we're killing the enemy, I was just wondering if you think there will ever be a time in the future when either a power will emerge to challenge the US and its allies, or battle will shift back to ground-based combat, instead of vehicles or air strikes. Hopefully, we can move away from those days.

Handbrake says encode finished but there's no file?

I've been using Handbrake for a little while, copied a DVD just yesterday, but I tried to copy another last night and it didn't work. I pressed start and after a second or two of "scanning queue" and "muxing", the "encode finished" box popped up, but nothing was actually accomplished. I downloaded both VLC and Handbrake again and deleted the old ones, but the same thing happened. I tried again this morning using Mactheripper to rip and then Handbrake to compress - but same thing again. Does anyone know what's going on and how I can fix it?

Pregnancy symptoms but Negative test?

*TMI* Last night when i took a test after i wiped there was what looked like CM with a little blood mixed with it. It kinda looked like clear snot with the blood throughout. I only saw it that once and nothing since. I have been havin' headaches, pullin'/fluttering sensation in my lower stomach with twinges off and on on both sides and just below my belly on. I have also been gettin' dull back aches, unable to sleep for too long, peein' more often then normal, and blotches like im breakin' out on my face. I thought that perhaps AF was soon to show up but now 14 days later it's still a no show. I know that AF and PG symptoms can be very close...but this is totally different. I don't get "twinges" with AF symptoms. Curious if the test just didn't pick up the hormone and im actually pg or if this is one MESSED up AF that isn't gunna show. Im TTC #1, no meds, 26 years old and in good health. Thanks for replys...and BABY DUST!
