Is anyone familiar with these symptons?Help Please!?

Ok I usually never ask health questions on yahoo answers but I am really scared.My dad is in the er and they wont tell my mom anything.His symptoms are a rapid heartbeat and when he exhales he said it feels like a balloon is filling up with air in his lower back on the left side.He said it also hurts to move his right arm.If any knows what this could mean please answer.No rude comments please.Thanks
