Do those has-beens on reality shows make any money off them?

VH1 has had a bunch of them. Now they got some rodeo show on CMT (Ty Murrey) with one of the Baldwins. I only know Alec. There's even Johnny Fairplay from Survivor on it. Why do they do these shows. I figure there must be money to be made from them.
